Helgenberger, Mac Barely Survive Showdown's Second Round Another top seed went down and two higher seeds narrowly avoided defeat in Round 2 of Zap2it's Showdown of the Network Stars.The closest races were in the Eastern and Mountain time zones, where "CSI" star Marg Helgenberger and "The Bernie Mac Show's" Bernie Mac squeaked by their opponents by fewer than 25 votes apiece. Helgenberger defeated Tom Welling ("Smallville") 2,221 to 2,201 in the Eastern, and Mac overcame "Coupling's" Rena Sofer, an upset winner in Round 1, by a final tally of 2,085 to 2,064 in the Mountain.All was not lost for "Smallville" fans, however, as Kristin Kreuk, the No. 8 seed in the Central, upset No. 1 Ray Romano ("Everybody Loves Raymond") by a fairly wide margin, 2,492 to 1,785. The Central's No. 2 seed, Sarah Jessica Parker, was also bounced, losing to "ER's" Maura Tierney.The remaining No. 1 seeds, Jennifer Aniston of "Friends" and Jennifer Garner of "Alias," each had an easy time in their second-round matches. Aniston defeated Joe Pantoliano ("The Handler") 3,530 to 1,959 in the Pacific, while Garner, the defending champ, whomped "Judging Amy" star Amy Brenneman 3,533 to 889 in the Eastern.Elsewhere, Benjamin McKenzie ("The O.C.") defeated fellow FOX It Boy Ashton Kutcher ("That '70s Show") by more than 1,000 votes; Demi Moore couldn't be reached for comment (not that we tried). Rob Lowe of NBC's new series "The Lyon's Den" defeated his former TV boss, Martin Sheen of "The West Wing," by a scant 72 votes. As the Showdown voting is electronic and doesn't use punchcards, no recount will be forthcoming.
